What inspired you to start broadcasting?
For years, I’ve been traveling and always wanted to be share my journey with people around the world. When I discovered Periscope back in 2015, I actually wanted to start making YouTube videos. However, making great videos takes a lot of editing and felt tedious to learn. Periscope came into my life and was the perfect way for me to share my vision and my insights instantly without having to spend hours editing. I remember watching my first broadcast and realizing that I could do this. It was so easy. All I had to do was talk into my phone and the content was made! I also loved that you had to be your authentic self on Periscope. It would allow people to experience the real me.
What do you wish someone had told you before you started broadcasting?
Honestly, I met some really good people when I started broadcasting on Periscope. These people supported me through the process of growing my audience on Periscope. I made such an amazing “family” on Periscope, and the people who watched me regularly genuinely cared about me. We became friends and we could share all the joys and challenges of being broadcasters. I feel like I always did my best and couldn’t have done anything differently. If there was anything, I wish someone told me that I’d still have you learn how to edit YouTube videos properly.
What’s been your most interesting experience that you’ve shared on Periscope?
The most amazing experience I had on Periscope was that I got to do a 15-day road trip from New York City to San Francisco, just in time for the January 2016 Periscope Summit, and the whole journey was supported by my Periscope followers. People hosted me in their homes. People drove me. It was magical. I could hardly believe the level of support I received.
What’s the most awkward thing that’s happening to you while broadcasting?
There have been times that I cried my eyes out on Periscope. Some people would never do such a thing on Periscope, but I knew that I needed to share those moments with my Periscope following. I don’t care as much about perfection as I care about just being real.
What’s on your bucket list of things to broadcast?
The night sky out in the country.
The northern lights.
Drone shots.
